The South Carroll student section cheers on the Boys Varsity Basketball team during the game.

On Friday, February 2nd, all three of our boys basketball teams competed against Francis Scott Key at Gold Rush. The boys Freshman basketball team finished their season with a 31-18 win over FSK and the boys JV basketball team also beat FSK 49-32. Both teams increased their records to 5 wins. The Boys Varsity basketball team came away with a 55-52 victory, advancing their record to 9-7-0. Dylan Graham led the scoring with 14 points. Mason Gavin and Cody Parks each contributed 9 points to the win.

During halftime of the game, several South Carroll graduates were inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. The former sports figures that entered the hall of fame were Gene Brown, Bob Huggins, Mike Jenkins, Nicole Spencer, and Lindsey Vosloh. Brown coached football from 1976 until 2003, and also taught at South Carroll until 2006. His team won 63 games during that time and captured three county championships and one regional championship. Huggins played football, basketball, and lacrosse for South Carroll. In 1988, he rushed over 1,000 yards and led the football team to a county, league, and regional title. Jenkins also played football, basketball, and lacrosse. After high school, he attended JMU and helped their football team capture the 1AA National Championship in 2004. In 2010, he placed second at the America’s Strongest Man Championship. Spencer played volleyball, basketball, and ran track for South Carroll. In basketball, she led her team to 21 straight victories, and the regional finals in 1996. Vosloh played soccer, basketball, and tennis at South Carroll. She finished her soccer career with 49 goals and 13 assists and went on to play Division 1 soccer at Campbell University.
