Do you have lots of old crayons that you don’t use anymore? Here’s a quick and easy way to make some groovy scented candles!

Items Needed:

  • Pair of scissors
  • Crayons
  • Glass cup
  • Essential oils/extracts
  • Vegetable shortening
  • Candle Wick (can be found at Michaels)
  • Toothpick

  1. Tie the opposite end of the wick, the part not connected to the metal piece to a toothpick and balance it over your glass cup
  2. Take about half of your favorite crayon and break  it into small pieces
  3. Place pieces in a separate glass bowl along with a bit of vegetable shortening
  4. Microwave until melted thoroughly, about 30-60 seconds
  5. Add several drops of your favorite essential oil to the mixture
  6. Pour the wax into the glass cup
  7. Wait for the wax to harden before adding another layer, about 10/15 minutes
  8. Repeat steps 4. through 9. until you have enough layers to fill the cup
  9. Congrats! You made a rad candle!
