On Saturday, February 3rd, the girls indoor track team went on to win the first Regional team title in South Carroll history. The girls separated themselves from the 2nd place team, Damascus by an incredible 17 points. Last year, they picked up the first county title in South Carroll history and repeated as county champions this year as well. An outstanding majority of the team contributed to the win by scoring points in the top eight spots of almost every event. “I think it really helps us to be spread out and each girl has their own thing,” Grace Fipps said to the Carroll County Times. The team has a wide array of talent, so they were able to mix up relay teams and still place well in order to advance every relay to states. Many runners also advanced in individual events, including Allie Zolkiewicz, Jamie Anderson, Megan O’Neill, Grace Fipps, Sarah Langille, and Brooke Flanagan. They will all be competing in the state meet at the PG Indoor Sports Complex on Monday, February 19th. The team hopes to win the state title, which would make them the first ever to do so in South Carroll History. Make sure to support your South Carroll Girls Track and Field team as they go for the gold!
