DIY Valentines Day Cookies

Want a sweet treat to brighten up your Valentine’s Day? Try making some quick and easy Sugar cookies!

-Prep Time: 15 minutes

-Cook Time: 10-15 minutes

-Recipe makes about 3 batches of cookies


  • 2 3/4 cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Powder
  • 1 cup of butter (make sure it’s softened, so your cookies aren’t hard!)
  • 1 1/2 cups of White Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract


  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and baking soda) in a small bowl
  3. In a mixing bowl, stir your softened butter and sugar together, until completely mixed
  4. Gradually add your vanilla extract and egg into the mixing bowl
  5. Once your wet ingredients are combined, mix in the dry ingredients thoroughly
  6. On a flat surface, use a rolling pin to flatten about half of the dough
  7. Cut out your dough with a heart-shaped cookie cutter, and place it onto a non-greased pan
  8. Bake the cookies for about 10-15 minutes, depending on how thick your cookies are
  9. Once baked, let the cookies sit on tray for about 4 minutes before placing them on a cooling rack
  10. (Optional) Once the cookies are cool, use some icing and/or sprinkles to decorate
  11. Enjoy!

Ingredients (For Icing):

  • 1 package (16 oz.) of Confectioners’ Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of Meringue Powder
  • 1/3 cup of Warm Water
  • (Optional) Food  Coloring

Directions (For Icing):

  1. In a mixing bowl, on medium speed, beat the sugar, meringue powder, and warm water together until the mixture is stiff, about 5 minutes
  2. Mix in the food coloring
  3. Place icing in decorating bags
  4. Go wild
