South Carroll’s fall drama The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is just weeks away from hitting the stage. Below is the link for the trailer for our upcoming Stagelighters’ production. Many thanks goes to Ashley Ingle and Screenlighters for its production. The play comes from a book written by Mark Haddon, and features a 15 year old boy with autism navigating his way through a difficult time in his life. Christopher, played by junior Ayden Behn, encounters situations that would flummox any neurotypical adult, and we watch him struggle with revelations about his family, himself, and what it means to love and be loved. Stagelighters students have worked incredibly hard over the past two months to convey an accurate portrayal of what it means to have autism in today’s world.

Mrs. Widner, the Stagelighters’ advisor shared this with the Chronicles: Here is the message on (our ticketing website): Our main goal in producing The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime is to provide education for the community about what Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) looks like in a real world setting. We hope that our audience will walk away with more understanding and acceptance of people with ASD, and will join us in creating a more inclusive, supportive society. There may be some strong language and scenes that are difficult to watch. We appreciate the community’s support in our efforts to improve understanding of ASD and to highlight both the traumas and beauty that people with ASD experience every day.

You can catch the show the weekend of Nov 8th through the 10th.
