Blood cost nothing to give but is more valuable than any other resource on earth. Each year, 6.8 million people in the U.S. donate blood. The red Cross now holds 40% of our nations blood and blood components but, only 10% of eligible people donate yearly. Which is why its so important to be a new donor or a consistent donor to be able to help out as many patients possible.

About every two seconds someone in the U.S is in the need of blood. Making one donation can save up to three lives. Type O Negative is often short of supply and in great demand. This blood type can be given to all patients of any blood types. Type AB positive plasma can also be donated to all types because only 3% of people in the U.S. are AB positive.

Donating blood is also a free blood analysis. According to the American Red Cross, donating blood could have potential benefits for the donor as well, such as, reducing stress, benefit physical health and help get rid of negative feelings.

On November 16th South Carroll will be having The Fall Blood Drive. You can sign up in E218 or when an SGA member comes to receive a permission form.  You must be 16 to donate blood and forms are due Nov. 9th in order to be put on the schedule. Please see Ms. Walker with any questions.

I encourage you to donate blood on November 16th to help save a life.
