The Young Democrats Club is working with the Mount Airy Net to host a Thanksgiving Food Drive until November 20th. The Mount Airy Net’s mission is to provide a safety net of support and services for those in need, serving Carroll County, Frederick County, Montgomery County, and Howard County. They provide food, clothing, shelter, utility, and other essentials.

Lilly Cooper is a co-president of the  Young Democrats club and she says that the goal of the food drive is to “help the people of Mount Airy to hopefully have a great Thanksgiving meal.” She says that you can donate all kinds of non-perishable such as canned items, packaged items, dry goods, beverages, personal items or paper items.

It is important that we all consider donating food to this cause. We don’t really tend to think about how some people in our community are not as fortunate and privileged to have a kitchen full of food. Remember, all donations are due November 201th.
