Girls Track competes in first meet of the season

,On Saturday, December 8th, the Track and Field team competed in their first invitational this winter. The girls did extremely well, placing within the top eight spots of every event. In the 300-meter dash, Lexi Winkler placed second with an outstanding time of 43 seconds. Following the race, Winkler said that she is relieved that her time was so close to  her personal record from last year. She hopes to improve even more off of the time further into the season. In the 55-meter hurdles, Sarah Langille finished second, while Zelda Hersh came in tenth. Megan O’Neill won the 500-meter run, and Reagan Flanigan came in third. Aside from amazing individual preformances, the Cavs also displayed great effort in their relays. The girls 4-by-200 meter relay team of Madeline Davis, Jenna McDermott, Amy Salendong, and Mia Mackenzie came in third overall. Davis, McDermott, and Salendong also joined Megan O’Neill in the 4-by-400 meter relay, where they also came in third place. The girls were all happy with how they performed, and plan to run well throughout the season. The team has their next meet on Saturday, December 15th, at the PG County Sports Complex.
