2019 is the last year of this decade, so it’s bound to be a big year. To celebrate the new year, here are 9 things to look forward to in 2019.

9. The flip phone makes a comeback

Samsung has announced a new take on the flip phone–a smartphone that folds out to the size of a tablet when opened. The phone is rumored to be called the Samsung Galaxy X, and it’s possible that the phone could be out as early as March.

8. A royal baby is born

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together. The baby is due to be born in spring this year.

7. Disney releases live-action remakes and sequels of classic movies

The classic Disney films The Lion King, Aladdin, and Dumbo are going to be given live-action remakes this year. Toy Story 4 will also come to theaters in June and Frozen 2 in November. Marvel fans can also look forward to Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame.

6. Stranger Things comes back for a third season

Fans of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things can look forward to the third season on July 4.

5. The last of the Star Wars sequel trilogy

Star Wars: Episode IX is the third and final movie in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Fans can watch it in theaters on December 20.

4. The Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys reunite

2 iconic groups from the 90s will be reuniting this year: the girl group Spice Girls and the boy band Backstreet Boys. The Backstreet Boys are releasing a new album, DNA, while the Spice Girls are going on a world tour.

3. FIFA Women’s World Cup

The FIFA Women’s World Cup is a women’s soccer competition with teams from all around the world that is held every four years. This year, it’s going to be held in France.

2. Fornite tournament with $100 million prize

The video game Fortnite has become immensely popular, so much so that it seems almost impossible to not have heard of the game. The very first Fortnite world cup will be held this year, with players competing for a $100 million prize.

According to Glamour, oversized hats, sensible shorts, tight pleats, tie-dye, fancy flats, summer waterproofs, fringing, neon, puffed shoulders, and sequins will be all the rage this year.
