When Osama Bin Laden was killed in 2011 by US troops, there were many celebrations and shows of American patriotism for the terrorist’s death. And it’s no different for Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

During a nighttime raid by US Special Operations, Baghdadi was cornered in a dead-end tunnel by a K9. In terror, Baghdadi detonated a suicide bomb. Unfortunately, he had 3 children with him, none of which survived. And while the K9 was injured in the blast, she reportedly fully recovered.

The raid reportedly went off without a hitch. No US troops, save for the dog, were injured in the night-time raid. More and more information has been revealed since the death, but they all confirm it: Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead.

It should be noted that the group is still active and has named a new successor. But it seems highly likely that the group was weakened by Baghdadi’s death. It may not mark the end of the terrorist group, but it’s a win for the fight against terrorism.
