Senate Votes on Bill to Make Animal Cruelty a Felony

Animals are important in our daily lives. Even if you don’t have any pets yourself, you know that animals can give us food, drinks, or simply make our everyday lives for convenient. So, whenever an animal is harmed, it feels like a completely heartless and cruel act.

Recently, the senate has passed a bill that makes all forms of animal cruelty a felony. The vote was unanimous. The PACT Act (Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture) was approved on Tuesday, November 5th. It expands on a law passed in 2010, which was only a felony if an animal was depicted on camera being harmed.

Under the PACT act, any form of cruelty against an animal will be enough to earn prosecution. There are exceptions for hunting. All that needs to happen now is for the President to sign the bill.
